PROFIBUS Testers

What is PROFIBUS?

PROFIBUS is the world's leading industrial communications fieldbus by number of installed network nodes. It is an digital communications system that allows for reliable communication between industrial systems, devices and instrumentation.

PROFIBUS is a reliable, proven technology, if corrected implemented and maintained. However, if a fault should occur, how quickly the fault can be resolved is critical.

Why diagnostic tools?

You wouldn't expect a mechanic to fix a car without the correct tools - why expect it from technicians and engineers that install and maintain PROFIBUS networks?

As PROFIBUS is a digital communications system, advanced diagnostic tools are required to analyse and inspect the "inner" functioning and health of the network.

Without these tools and adequate training, fault finding on PROFIBUS can become exponentially more complex. This can lead to extended downtime or production problems. To avoid this, an investment in training and diagnostic tools is required. This upfront cost is ultimately small compared to the cost of lost production.

IDX distributes a wide variety of diagnostic tools for various applications to empower personnel to resolve costly network faults.

What tools are required?

PROFIBUS diagnostic tools can generally be categorised according to their general function and applicability. However, modern test tools are becoming increasingly integrated with a single tool performing most diagnostic functions.

IDX recommends, at minimum, a hand-held test tool be available for fault finding purposes. For more advanced and complete fault-finding, additional tools such as combination tools and oscilloscopes are required.
